Droid creations and customizations are fun, at least for me they are. Our house is always festive. Right now the Halloween decorations are up, and when they go down the Thanksgiving decorations go up, then Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, 4th of July, sprinkle in some family Birthday’s, then start all over again. Nothing too big and overwhelming, but enough so visitors know what season it is. Same with my PC and Macbook Pro, always something good on the wallpaper.
So….when I got my Droid X customizing was a natural move. The first trick for me was to figure out how to transfer files. Once I settled in I started reading all this stuff about “apps,” like Launcher Pro, Home Switcher, and some others, and my Droid customizations reeeeeealy started to come to life.
It’s not hard to do, even for a beginner like me. All you need is a nice cheap (free) image editor to resize images for the Droid wallpaper and icons, an icon creator-editor if you want transparent icons (otherwise you can convert icons online), and something to create custom ringtones (I use “Acid Music Studio” by Sony). Put all those “themed” graphics and ringtones into folders, move them to the Droid through USB….done.
This latest creation I call “Satellite Droid,” complete with custom 1966 Star Trek console, ship, and transporter beam (me up Scotty) sound effects ringtone.
